Drinking Water Advisory
The Eastern Ontario Health Unit promotes and protects the health and wellness of its community by issuing drinking water advisories for municipalities and public places. When tests reveal the presence of bacteria that can be harmful to the health of residents, boil water advisories are issued. Water advisories are also issued when chemical products have contaminated the water. The Health Unit works closely with the municipalities and laboratories to identify non-potable water (water that's unsafe for drinking) and inform the population of the risks associated with the drinking non-potable water.
Drinking water advisories are issued only for municipal water and public places and are not issued for single households on private wells, as the owners are responsible for their own well.
