COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) – Information for Schools and Child Care Centres

Although the COVID-19 virus (previously called 2019 Novel Coronavirus) has not affected any students or schools in Eastern Ontario to date, many families have concerns about the illness and how they can protect their children. Below is information that can be shared with parents who are seeking more information:

Ontario State of Emergency and Closure of Non-Essential Workplaces:

New directives issued by the Government of Ontario state that private daycares with 5 children or less can remain open as they are classified as an essential service. In alignment with the revised directives, the EOHU is advising that private daycares with 5 children or less can resume operations, provided they take the required infection control measures described in the documents below:
