Public Health Promoter

LOCATION: 1 temporary full-time position in the SDG Territory (until May 31, 2019)

SALARY: $32.78 to $37.47 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits and 8% in lieu of vacation pay.

DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
The individual will be responsible for the development of various initiatives within the Chronic Disease Prevention and Well-Being program and the Substance Use and Injury Prevention program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Relevant educational background at the baccalaureate level.
  • Demonstrated skills in and/or knowledge of community development, social marketing, education, behaviour change education and public policy.
  • Good communication skills in both official languages.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver's licence and the use of an automobile.

Public Health Inspector

LOCATION: 12 week Practicum placement in Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Territory

SALARY: $29.77 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits and 6% in lieu of vacation.

DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
The incumbent will be responsible to provide education in matters related to health promotion, community health protection and certain infectious diseases with emphasis in food and water and infection control; and to enforce the provisions of the Health Protection and Promotion Act.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor degree in Environmental Health or equivalent.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and the use of an automobile.
  • Good communication skills in both English and French.

Public Health Inspector

LOCATION: 1 Permanent Full-Time Public Health Inspector in the Cornwall office

SALARY: $64,100 to $72,399 annually

DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
The incumbent will be responsible to provide education in matters related to community health protection, primarily on food safety, water quality and health hazards prevention; and to enforce the provisions of the Health Protection and Promotion Act.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor degree in Environmental Health or equivalent
  • Certificate in Public Health Inspection
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

Test Shopper

LOCATION:1 Casual Position for Prescott-Russell Territory

SALARY: $ 14.00 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits plus 6% in lieu of vacation.

DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
The student will be driven to a broad cross-section of tobacco retail outlets within the Eastern Ontario Health Unit area for the purpose of determining if the retailer would sell tobacco products to the Test Shopper.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 18 years of age or younger.
  • Must have good recognition and recall abilities.
  • Must be credible, reliable and discreet.
  • Good communication skills in both official languages.
  • Should have some commitment towards preventing smoking amongst peers.
  • Must be available for court appearances during normal business (school) hours (minimal).
  • A G1 driver’s licence is required.

LOCATION:

1 Permanent Full-Time Support Clerk for the Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Territory

SALARY: $21.81 to 24.64 per hour

DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
The incumbent will provide general clerical support to a group of public health staff under the direction of a supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 graduate with a minimum of one year experience.
  • One year post secondary training in a program dedicated to the development of clerical skills preferred.
  • Good communication skills in both official languages.
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Windows, keyboarding skills).
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills.

Tobacco Enforcement Officer

LOCATION:1 casual Position in Cornwall - Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Territory

SALARY: $29.85 to $33.72 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits and 6% in lieu of vacation.

DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
The incumbent will enforce tobacco by-laws within the five counties. The incumbent will carry out the objectives of the Eastern Ontario Health Unit through a program of monitoring, surveillance, inspection and enforcement actions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Law enforcement diploma or a minimum of 5 years experience in an enforcement role.
  • Communication skills in both official languages.
  • Must possess a valid driver's licence and the use of an automobile.

Summer Student – Beach Monitoring Program, SDG Territory

LOCATION: 1 Temporary position for the SDG Territories (May 1 to August 31, 2018)

SALARY: $14.36 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits and 6% in lieu of vacation

DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
The individual will be assigned to the beach monitoring program; will collect beach water samples, perform data entry tasks using computerized database and other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post secondary education student.
  • Education or experience in environmental studies would be an asset.
  • Good communications skills in both official languages.
  • Basic typing skills.
  • Familiar with Windows type environment.
  • Demonstrates initiative, innovation, creativity and motivation.
  • Demonstrates good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • A valid driver’s licence and access to an automobile is required.
