Public Health Nurse

LOCATION: 1 Temporary Full-Time Public Health Nurse (January 3rd to June 29, 2018) in the Cornwall Office

SALARY: $33.10 to $43.44 hourly with 12% in lieu of benefits and 8% vacation pay

DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
The individual will be responsible for various initiatives within the Family Health, Sexual Health and Vaccine Preventable Diseases.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ontario certificate of competence for the current year
  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing
  • Good communication skills in both official languages
  • Demonstrated skills in and/or knowledge of the following:

    • community development
    • social marketing
    • health education
    • public policy
    • behaviour change education
  • Certificate in C.P.R. is considered an asset
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and the use of an automobile

Public Health Inspector

LOCATION: 1 Permanent Full-Time Public Health Inspector in the Cornwall office

SALARY: $64,100 to $72,399 annually

DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
The incumbent will be responsible to provide education in matters related to community health protection, primarily on food safety, water quality and health hazards prevention; and to enforce the provisions of the Health Protection and Promotion Act.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor degree in Environmental Health or equivalent
  • Certificate in Public Health Inspection
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Must possess a valid driver's licence and the use of an automobile
  • Good communication skills in both English and French

Test Shopper – Cornwall SD&G

LOCATION: 1 Casual Test Shopper Position in Cornwall (SD&G)

SALARY: $11.40 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits plus 6% in lieu of vacation

DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
The student will be driven to a broad cross-section of tobacco retail outlets within the Eastern Ontario Health Unit area for the purpose of determining if the retailer would sell tobacco products to the Test Shopper.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 18 years of age or younger
  • Must have good recognition and recall abilities
  • Must be credible, reliable and discreet
  • Good communication skills in both official languages
  • Should have some commitment towards preventing smoking amongst peers
  • Must be available for court appearances during normal business (school) hours (minimal)
  • A G1 driver’s licence is required

SALARY: $21.81 to $24.64 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits and 6% in lieu of vacation

DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
The incumbent will provide occasional general clerical support to a group of public health staff under the direction of a supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 graduate with a minimum of one year experience
  • One year post-secondary training in a program dedicated to the development of clerical skills preferred
  • Good communication skills in both official languages
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Windows, keyboarding skills)
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and the use of an automobile
