Let's Talk: 0 to 6 Months

Although your baby can’t fully understand what you're saying, he or she is learning fast. Babies learn to talk by listening to the voices and sounds all around them, and they learn according to their own timetable. This video looks at some of the milestones your baby should reach by 6 months of age, and some simple ways that you can support his or her growing communication skills. Concerned about your child’s speech and language development? If at any stage you have concerns about your child’s communication development, don’t hesitate to talk to your healthcare provider or your local health unit. Residents in the Eastern Ontario Health Unit region can call Health Line at 613-933-1375 or 1 800 267-7120 for information about the EOHU’s Words in Bloom speech and language development program.
