Salary: $ 64,100.40 to $ 72,399.60 annually

Description of Job:
The incumbent will be responsible to provide education in matters related to community health protection, primarily on food safety, water quality and health hazards prevention; and to enforce the provisions of the Health Protection and Promotion Act.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor degree in Environmental Health or equivalent.
  • Certificate in Public Health Inspection.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver's licence and the use of an automobile.
  • Good communication skills in both English.
  • French language skills considered an asset.

Public Health Inspector

Location: 1 Permanent Full-Time position for the Prescott-Russell territory

Salary: $ 64,100.40 to $ 72,399.60 annually

Description of Job:
Working as a member of a Public Health Team, the incumbent will be responsible to carry out inspections, investigations, education in matters related to community health protection, primarily on food safety, water quality and health hazards prevention; and to enforce the provisions of the Health Protection and Promotion Act.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health or equivalent.
  • Current certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada).
  • Self motivated and able to complete assigned duties with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to respond to varied and shared tasks associated with working in a positive team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to participate effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.

1 Permanent Full-Time Foundational Standard Specialist

Location: Office to be determined

Salary: $64,100.40 to $72,399.60 annually

Description of Job:
The individual will be responsible for providing expertise in evidence-informed planning, program evaluation, community situational health assessment, research, and knowledge exchange. S/he will act as a central resource to support effective public health practice, implement the Ontario Public Health Standards (OPHS), related protocols and guidelines and will use evidence to inform contributions to public health programs, policies, practices, and reports.

Qualifications:

Masters degree in Public Health (or other Health Sciences

Bachelor’s degree in a health-related discipline.

Previous experience in a community health-related field, preferably public health.

            Understanding and knowledge of concepts such as population health status, health influences and disease (or injury) risk factors and demonstrated ability to apply knowledge to practice.

            Sound knowledge and experience in conducting program planning (using evidence from various sources and best practices), program evaluation, research and population health assessment.

            Experience in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, literature review and critical appraisal in health or human service fields.

            Good communication skills in both official languages.

            Must possess a valid driver's license and the use of an automobile.
