The National Cervical Cancer Awareness Week, also known as the PAP (Prevention & Awareness Program), is a Federation of Medical Women of Canada (FMWC) initiative. It’s our 10th year and we’re growing strong! -Major breakthrough in cancer prevention! We can immunize against Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), an infectious cause of multiple cancers. -Cervical cancer is caused by Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) infection -Reduce your risk of cervical cancer by getting immunized at any age. -Reduce your daughter’s or son’s risk of ever getting or spreading the risk of HPV-associated cancers. -Take advantage of school-based immunization programs for girls and boys. This is a perfect opportunity and age for your child to be immunized. -Get your Pap test every 3 years, as recommended by your provincial or territorial guidelines
