#EOHUeats - Easy Apple Sauce
Recipe:
Prep time: 15 minutes Cook time: 60 min Serves 4
Apples, any variety - 6 medium
Water - ¾ cup
Lemon Juice - 1-2 tbsp
Brown Sugar (optional) - 2 tbsp
Cinnamon - ½ tsp
1. Core and slice apples into wedges. Put apples in saucepan along with water and sugar. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, reduce heat, cover and simmer until apples are soft and tender (about 30-40 minutes).
2. Remove cover and continue to cook for another 10 to 15 minutes, until almost all liquid has evaporated. Remove from heat. Add lemon juice and cinnamon. Let stand for at least 30 minutes.
3- Puree (using a food processor or immersion blender) or mash to desired consistency.
TIP: To add more fibre, use just cored apples and puree apple mixture using a hand mixer.
